After a week-long campaign celebrating the one-year anniversary of With You: Withdrawn Poetry of the #MeToo Movement, we are so proud, grateful, and excited to share that we've made another $250 donation to the TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund, bringing our total contribution to $750.
With You features 16 poets who withdrew work from journals and publishing houses following the #MeToo movement's exposure of predatory gatekeepers in the literary world. With an introductory essay by Peach Senior Poetry Editor Liz Bowen, which was originally withdrawn from publication with a major American journal, this anthology serves as an example of alternatives to publishing with known abusers and those who protect them.
The TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund is a program administered by the National Women's Law Center (NWLC), an organization that fights gender-based discrimination within the justice system, in public policy, and in our society. Contributions to the fund support NWLC operations to provide legal representation to the brave individuals who have come forward—at great risk to themselves—to seek the justice they deserve and to protect others from sexual abuse and harassment. In addition, the NWLC makes routine donations to support smaller nonprofit organizations with more targeted missions; examples of previous recipients include:
Alianza Nacional de Campesinas
Asian/Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project
Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence
Asian-American Community Services
DC Jobs with Justice
