New Mix: "Invitation to Form: Epic Mix" Edited by Julianne Neely

Next up in our anthology series Peach Mixes is Invitation to Form: Epic Mix, edited by Julianne Neely! This teal little pocketbook is full of pieces of art and literature that "share in common the presence of a space of epic proportions—whether in length, duration, momentum, or perception—to invent poetic linkages between language and its relationship to history and power," writes Julianne in an editor's note that prefaces the collection. Preorder your copy for the discounted price of $11 and be on the lookout later this month for news on a hybrid launch in Buffalo!

Invitation to Form: Epic Mix republishes poetry and visual art by Peach contributors Julianne Neely, Aaron Lelito, Ava September Hofmann, Caroline Rayner, Kayleb Rae Candrilli, Marie Buck, Matthew Walker, Marisa Tornello, Rebecca Teich, S. Erin Batiste, and Victoria Saeli. It is accompanied by an introductory editor's note on "epic" work by Julianne. "The epic is amenable to differing aesthetic and political projects. It is a grab bag of forms, an open one that can handle the vastness of collective experience," she writes.

Julianne Neely received her MFA degree from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she received the Truman Capote Fellowship, the 2017 John Logan Poetry Prize, and a Schupes Fellowship for Poetry. She is currently a Poetics PhD student and an English Department Fellow at the University at Buffalo. Her writing has been published in Hyperallergic, VIDA, The Poetry Project, The Rumpus, The Iowa Review, and more. She has three chapbooks out with Slope Editions, garden-door Press, and Foundlings Press.

In Peach Mixes, we invite previous Peach contributors to edit themed pocketbook-length anthologies from a mix of the nearly 700 poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art features we've published in our online journal since 2016. Our first three Mixes were edited by Fargo Nissim Tbakhi, Sasha Debevec-McKenney, and Hazel Avery.

Peach Mixes are partly funded by a DEC/SCR grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, administered locally by Arts Services Inc. Mixes are also produced in partnership with Just Buffalo Literary Center.
