Peach x Rise: Julianne Neely

Peach's video series in collaboration with local media outlet Rise Collaborative continues with "AFTER THE GENDERED LYRIC" by Julianne Neely. The series, which launched over the summer with a poem by Editor in Chief Rachelle Toarmino, covers local poets and Peach contributors reading their work throughout the Buffalo-Niagara region.


Julianne Neely is a Buffalo-based, Staten Island-bred poet and PhD candidate at University at Buffalo's Poetics Program. She first got involved with Peach when we published her poem "A WOMAN WALKS INTO A BAR" during Season 3 (which we later published in our Season 3 Yearbook and nominated for Best of the Net), and most recently read for us at s04e01: Peach Mag + Triangle House.


Julianne received her MFA degree from the Iowa Writer's Workshop, where she received the Truman Capote Fellowship, the 2017 John Logan Poetry Prize, and a Schupes Prize for Poetry. writing has been published in VIDA, The Rumpus, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Hobart and more. Her chapbook The Body Beside Herself is now available from Slope Editions.
